š Sion
Luckily Lapis' ship is almost as decorated as her apartment, splashes of color here and there, with bright pillows on the seats of the cockpit - where Lapis is having her A.I. take control for now, watching as the holograms flash before the pair. Information about their destination, and how long it will take to get there. Might be a bit hectic since everyone is rushing around now that the quarantine has lifted, but they won't be help up too much.]
Well, we won't be too held up. So we'll get there sometime today. [Since the time estimates keep jumping back and forth - she would've thought this kind of thing would be more perfected by now with this kind of technology. Apparently not.]

[ For it had been quite clear, hadn't it, from the moment he'd set foot on the boarding ramp, that Sion Astal is a man enamored by flight; with the way hundreds of thousand glimmers of starlight with little worlds trailing atmospheres in elliptical orbits pass them by, visible through the viewing window as they hum together in one enormous note, singing in B flat.
Planets, civilizations, dark matter, tangible matterāall circle together into one, and Sion seems to hold the thought in the utmost reverence, because if one gave consideration to the notion... ]
Did you know, Lapis, that we are all the music of the Quad? [ Where he'd been preoccupied with looking out, into space, he glances back, over his shoulder, to his friendāand for her, his smile is impossibly bright; energetic, yet, because while it has been a long day, it has been a good one, well-spent in the company of the people dear to him. ] Though it is true sound cannot exist in a vacuum, and space is a vacuum to be sure, there is still movement, and the sound which stems from it.
The waves may be small, only a few thousand nanometers trough to crest, or... they can be massive, playing the celestial music of the moons and planets.
[ Rocking back and forth upon his heels in a way which is thoroughly boyish and at play, he clasps his hands behind his back, canting his head to the side as he turns to face Lapis completely. ]
And we, too, are sound, the particles that carry a wave thousands of light-years across the galaxy. [ And here, Sion hums, the sound airy and musical...! ] In this way, we are all connected, so no matter how far apart we may be from our friends...
[ A reassuring nod of head, because he feels it keenly, too, the small heartache that is being parted from people cared for and adored. ]
Our voices will surely reach them.

And as he turns to her with a smile, she smiles brightly back, the memories of the day rushing back - though there's something bittersweet to them too, now that one of the trio is no longer here, who had to stay behind. But she pushes those feelings back, quietly listening to her friend, her head still tilted as she peeks up at him.
As she listens, her smile becomes something softer, letting herself relax back in her chair - the thought of being connected to friends like that, no matter how far away, a comforting one. It gets her to nod in return, as she unravels herself from her seat now, smiling warmly over at her friend.]
Mmhm, that's right. I'll need to remember that... That we're always connected, no matter how far.

[ Bridging the distance between them with a graceful step, Sion touches his fingertips to her shoulder in a gentle plea for her to remain stil, if only because she has done so very, very much already. Everything, perhaps, save for care for herself. ]
...you should remain seated. I can only imagine how very worn you must be, after running to Leith's mountain ranges and back.
[ And while the very same might be said of the Director, (Sion, who had run after her while carrying another in his arms and maintaining a bridge of programmable matter), the thought seems not to occur to him. Why should it, after all, when he'd been made to do such thingsāhis design is one crafted with endurance in mind. ]
What's more... [ Ah, Lapis should recognize this, shouldn't she? The playful gleam and glint to Sion's eyesā ] ...I would be honored if I might take the co-pilot's chair at your side, my Lady.

It's true she is tired, but he was also running with her, while also carrying Julius and creating those platforms. Surely, he must be feeling rather worn out as well, even if he might not be showing it so clearly. Luckily she doesn't have to ask him to sit, as he quickly beats her to it - golden eyes blinking up at him once more, before she smiles softly.
A hand motions him to the seat beside her, after having taken a couple of pillows from her seat and placed them on-top of the co-pilot seat. With how she tends to usually travel by herself, that seat is often left bare and neglected, so having someone beside her for once is a nice change.]
Of course, I would be honored. Plus, I think you should sit down and rest for a little bit as well.
no subject
Perhaps I do need the rest. [ Wholeheartedly, Sion is able to heed the 'Captain's' orders, minding himself if only to see Lapis at ease. Lapis, who... ] May I ask if your sleep has improved, since that night...?
[ That night when Sion had been the first to doze off, despite his best efforts, physically and emotionally drained by the Company's internal affairs investigations. Lapis, she'd opened her home to him, welcomed him with tea and her quiet smile, and embarrassingly... he'd fallen asleep, sheltered by her warmth, the familiarity between them. ]
I did not mean to doze off as I did. [ Ah? What is that faint dusting of color brightening his cheeks? A blush? No, of course not! ] My apologies, for not being better company.
no subject
And despite herself, she finds a smile curling at the corner of her lips as she remembers how he drifted to sleep. Only giggling when she sees that faint color along his cheeks - amusement and fondness clear in her eyes, as her smile becomes warmer and softer.]
Don't apologize, I'm glad you find my apartment so relaxing. But I have been sleeping a bit better since then. [It's not a vast improvement, but she is sleeping just a bit more.] Thank you, Sion.
no subject
[ But even so, she's thanked him still, her soft laughter as relaxing as it had been on that night when she'd provided him with safe-harbor away from the uglier, harder truths of belonging to the Company.
He thinks, then, that perhaps it hadn't been Lapis' apartment at all (though the space had been warm, lively with color and with an antique shop's eclectic dĆ©cor), but simply the presence of a friend which had allowed him to slip so quickly, so deeply away into sleep. For so very long, he'd known only the isolation to be found behind Company walls that he'd forgotten what it had been to feel at easeāin every sense of the wordāwith someone. And if Lapis found the same comfort in his presence that he did in hers, maybe then--...
He had helped, in at least some small part.
A hand lifting from the pillow he holds, he leans to the side, reaching out to her with an open palm and artfully bowed fingers, wanting to take her hand in his own. ]
You are most welcome, Lapis. [ A nod of his head, a contented hum. ] You have been practicing with your A.I. since that day, as well?
At this rate, between your new-found speed and those abilities innate to only you, no one will be able to rival your prowess.
[ āspoken like a good co-pilot, accompanied by a playful wink and cant of head. But more than that, the words are no simple flattery, as much as evident in the profound way Sion studies Lapis' face, full of wonderment. ]
But... you'll not leave me behind, will you?
š¹ Kara
And for someone who likes having her own way, this will not do at all. At least the back alleys are a bit more deserted, compared to the crowded streets, so at least here she can make some attempt at practicing. If by practicing, she means crashing into stuff once again - her crashing causing quite a bit of noise that Kara could pick up on as she walks by. The apparent cause of it crouched down by the wall she had ran into at least nice, a hand held to her now sore noise as she huffs to herself.
By this point she's beyond caring about why this is even happening, she just wants to get this under control already!]
no subject
Which is, apparently, Lapis.]
The hell happened here?
[Did someone attack her?]
no subject
I'm having some... issues with something. [She shifts on her feet, though the moment she moves a foot slightly forward, she suddenly moves quickly to the other side of the alley. Her expression looks even more flatter than usual when she comes to a stop.]
That. I'm having some issues with that.
no subject
Did someone do this t'you?
[There's an edge to her voice. Some of her friends have been in town, and she wouldn't put it past them to take random people off the street for the experiments, not these days.]
no subject
No, I just woke up today, and suddenly I'm zooming around randomly. I have no clue how this happened.
[Yet she seems pretty calm about this - though Lapis is calm about most things. Being able to move so fast feels oddly... natural. She's just more annoyed that she can't really control it.]
no subject
You shouldn't be doing this here.
[She's either going to get hurt, or someone will see what she can do and want to study it or take advantage of it or god knows what.
Kara has trust issues.]
no subject
There's not really many places that are safe to do this.
[She's certainly not going out into the Badlands, that would just be even worse.]
no subject
White Sands ain't too bad, out where Eulogy is.
[Once through the Badlands the conditions are a little better, though it can still be a trek.
Kara hesitates another moment, before adding:]
It's where I figured my shit out.
no subject
But Kara's suggestion sounds a little better, and so Lapis nods in response.]
Then I'll give it a try out there. [With how fast she can go now, she doubts it would take long to get there.
But she's snapped out of her thoughts at what the other woman says next, the only change in her expression being how her brows furrow just slightly.]
Did something like this happen to you before?
no subject
[That's a pretty vague answer, but considering only a few people know she's got more going on than just "human", Lapis is amongst a pretty select group of people. It's easier, though, to tell people are in the same boat, if only because they're less likely to rat her out.]
Took me a year to stop messing things up, just gotta keep at it.
[That's meant to be reassuring, in it's own way.]
no subject
A year is definitely better than never. I'll keep practicing. [At least she'll gain control eventually. That's even more of a relief.]
Though, do you know what caused your... issues?
no subject
But she figures it's close enough.]
Doctors with more ambition than compassion.
[It's why Kara had worried, at first, that someone had done something to Lapis.]
š· Crowley
Especially since she finds herself speeding up again - luckily it's only a shirt burst since she basically crashes into someone first. Abusing this speed to quickly stumble back, holding a hand to her abused head as she blinks and forces herself to focus.]
Ah, sorry, I - Oh. [Oh hey, she recognizes that face. The faintly apologetic look still lingers though, ignoring the slight pain because ow that still kinda hurt.]
Evening, Crowley. Sorry about that.
no subject
Ha? [ Lapis. Why is he not surprised? ] Haha.
What are you doing running around like that? I don't like surprises.
no subject
There's silence for a moment as she massages the last of her pain from her head, her eyes then glancing down at her feet.]
Can't exactly help it. It's not like I'm running into everything and everyone for fun.
no subject
Maybe don't rush yourself? Sounds logical. [ Don't be an asshole Crowley soon enough you're gonna be breaking through walls. ] So what's going on?
no subject
I already said I can't help it. [At least she doesn't seem offended? Instead just as calm as always, before sighing softly.
And instead of saying something, she shifts to step to the side. But rather than just stepping to the side like a normal person, she basically zips around him and then digs her heels in to stop herself in front of him once more.]
That. I'm having trouble with stopping and starting it.
no subject
And then she goes and does... whatever that is. He blinks twice in disbelief, but settles with whatever is going is certainly real and it's not like it's on the top ten of weird shit he's seen. In fact, he's in no room to talk considering his own existence is an oddity of itself. ]
Okay. [ For a moment that seems to be the only thing he's going to contribute into this conversation. At least until he decides to bend his knees slightly and hoist her over her shoulder surprise. ] It's annoying.
[ That's the only reason why he's doing this. ]
Where are you headed so I can get you there before you slam into a wall.
no subject
And at least he doesn't seem freaked out by that. Though that simple answer only getting her to tilt her head, quietly wondering if that's all he's going to say. Only to find herself just being hoisted over his shoulder. Well, okay. This is happening.
Instead of kicking up a fuss, she just goes with it - resting an elbow on his back so she can place her chin in her hand.]
Well, yeah, it's a bit annoying. [If him carrying her stops her from crashing all the time, then she isn't going to complain.]
The bar just down the street. I was planning to drink a bit tonight.
no subject
[ As if he's speaking for her.
But he begins walking down the street, indifferent towards the eyes watching them. ]
Are you celebrating or something?
