how could i ask for more
Who: Crowley Eusford (
eusford ) & Juvia Lockser (
lacuscular )
Where: Leith, at the bazaar!
When: End of W4.
Summary: "We've been dating for three hours, sixteen minutes, and twenty-seven seconds." "Who are you?"
Restrictions/Warnings: None!
[ His few trips to Leith were all for official business, to put simply, and while Crowley would normally shrug off any feelings of complaints there was some mild disappointment. But none of those trips were focused solely around something that he deemed important, much more personal, and so when given the chance he takes it.
Juvia Lockser would be his company for sake of convenience, but it should be noted that Crowley is a terrible babysitter and probably shouldn't bring anyone with him anywhere. Especially if he's going to forget their presence while paying close attention to loose lips and somehow managing to lose sight of her in the bazaar.
Or perhaps it should be the other way around. (It definitely is.)
He hears stories of monastery somewhere in the mountains but that's not news. He's looking for someone in specific and unfortunately it seemed he wouldn't be finding that today.
With furrowed brows he finally catches the figure of Juvia and approaches, lips pulled into a frown. ]
What are you doing looking all frantic like that?

Just looking at him made her hands all sweaty, and she isn't sure if it's because of his muscles or his demeanor.
When she hears Crowley's voice, however, Juvia's at least nine hundred shades of relieved. It's not often she goes to Leith, much less to the bazaar. While she's used to the crowded streets of Old Town, this feels like something entirely new. ]
Crowley...! Thank goodness you found me!
[ The one thing she liked about Crowley, definitely, was how tall he was. It was easy for someone like her to hide behind him. ]
Juvia thought you had left her!
no subject
You should pay more attention. [ She's so irresponsible. ] Have you been looking for me this entire time? You could have just found something to do.
[ Crowley let's that sentence sit for a second, listening to it a second time in his head and quietly realizing that it's rude to speak to a woman like that. Even if he came strictly with his own desires that didn't mean he'd throw all those lessons on mannerism out the window. ]
I won't leave you, so next time this happens just call me.
[ But will he answer? Tune in next time. ]
Anyway, did you find anything you wanted to look at?
no subject
He got her good...Half the time Juvia is so single minded she doesn't think about any sensible alternatives. It's only when she feels comfortable that she doesn't have to look like an idiot in front of Crowley. She suddenly feels a lot smaller, and very apologetic.
She looks up at him, a single bead of sweat rolling down her face (is it from how nervous she is, or how fully covered she is???? we'll never know). ]
Next time I'll call you, so you won't have to worry. [ H......He was worried, right? ] Juvia's sorry!
[ And she says it....just to be sure. She doesn't want to step on anyone's toes, figuratively or literally. At his question, she manages to brighten up a little, but she's still feeling the after-effect of Crowley's reality check. ]
Ah, yes.. There was a place that sold umbrellas that I passed through, but didn't stop by to look at. What about you? Did you find something?
no subject
Right. [ He was like... 0.01% worried. ] If you're truly sorry, you'll make sure to be more serious next time.
[ The words come out in such a pleasant tone that it would be hard for anyone to take actual offense immediately, perhaps. ]
No, what I'm looking for isn't here. [ Feigning sight agitation he smiles. ] Take me to where you saw the umbrellas, we'll go take a look.
no subject
It's the immediate contrast that throws her off, how nice he sounds but how mean his words are. She squints her eyes at him in thought, ultimately deciding that maybe the way he speaks isn't so bad.
She'll let it slide this time..... ]
What is Crowley looking for? Maybe I can help..
[ She's not going to say that she's good at tracking people down by herself, all considering her incredible muss-up two seconds earlier with losing Crowley. She still heads in the direction where she saw them even as she speaks, thinking it better to not try and not make this trip even more of a mess than it already is. ]
no subject
(She'll let it slide every time. Just calling that now, I'm betting five dollars.) ]
It's fine, don't worry about it. [ There's no authority in his voice, surprisingly enough, following closely behind before bringing up a hand to rest at the back of her head. Aiming for their instead of the top due to her hat. ] I told you from the very beginning that this is like a getaway, so treat it like one.
1/3
Okay. Juvia won't ask about it again. [ She is going to very much think about it though, and try to think of what the hell someone like Crowley would have trouble searching for if he could find her so easily.
When he starts talking, however, Juvia blanks out. ]
no subject
Getaway. ]
no subject
no subject
i am so sorry i didnt even count right
She turns in a hurry, clasping at her face. ]
Are you sure this is okay?!!
i was shocked
He's also not paying much attention to how she reacts, his attention drifting to the shops they pass before his hand drops back to his side. ]
It's just fine. [ He answers clearly, honestly. ] Unless you wanna call it something else?
[ Like a mission? Or a job? Who knows, he didn't really care that much. ]
no subject
Ohhhhhhh!!!! She's freaking out a little. Except this time not to obviously-- she's trying to figure out if what her brain is telling her is really true, or if she's definitely right on what's going on. She's blushing, focusing on a very intersting spot on the ground before she talks to him. ]
Getaway is fine. [ Oh god, she needs to rest. She needs to rest immediately. ] Crowley.. could we sit for a little while?
Juvia can show you the umbrellas later.
no subject
... Sure? [ He blinks. ] Doesn't sound too bad, I'm a little tired.
[ Lazy. He's lazy.
But instead he directs Juvia to one of the many benches scattering around the bazaar. Empty of bodies but close to enough people that this was all but a private space for the two of them. Crowley takes a seat, eyeing the empty side to which his partner will fill. ]
no subject
She sits next to him, practically melting into her seat. It's hard for her not to see that she made things worse for herself by suggesting this, and it hits her the moment she feels his presence next to her. His big, beefy muscles, also the fact that even when he's sitting he towers over her in the most intimidating of ways....
She sighs deeply, looking up at him quickly. She, she has to say something! ]
This is too much for Juvia...! Isn't it for you, too??
no subject
But rather his attention drifts elsewhere to the busy streets, eyes briefly taking in the faces of people passing by with little-to-no hope of seeing the man he's searching for. It's foolish of him to believe that he'll find this person in one day, but then again anything is possible when you're desperate enough to kill a man.
...
There's a few seconds of silence between them after Juvia spouts out... whatever. He's not even quite sure where this is all coming from, quirking a brow despite not even looking in her direction. ]
You mean traveling? Yeah, sure, I'm a little tired.
1/2
T.. Traveling? Yes.
[ But she can't be getting her hopes up too much!! Juvia, you need to get a grip on life! Everything! Your goals! ]
no subject
Juvia is a little tired too.
[ At least there wasn't anyone who actually cared to notice her blunder!! ]
1/2
Hm.
no subject
He is tired from the traveling, but not by much. The genetic modifications in his body means his body's stamina is much higher than a normal person's, so at most he's just irritated that things aren't falling into place.
But if everything clicked together so perfectly that would make it boring, wouldn't it?
That question echoes in the back of his head and eats away at his thoughts. Lingering and biting, gripping to him as a constant reminder that this story of revenge may--and perhaps should--last longer, because once it's over and done with what will he do? His lips curl into a frown, much to his dismay, and he sighs. ]
Two minutes. [ He announces. ] And then we'll start moving again. Rest however you'd like.
[ So on him, on the floor, or whatever... he knows you're a freak. ]
no subject
That's on her for wearing heeled boots, even with knowing they'd be walking. ]
OK.
[ And she doesn't argue with him on that either-- she's not a freak in public ok so she simply sits next to him, staring out into the crowd and occasionally at her hands for the next two minutes. The quiet, most painstaking two minutes of her life. And unlike Crowley, Juvia doesn't have a lot of life changing inner dialogue going on-- it's honestly just worrying about how dumb she is. ]
Are you ready to go?
no subject
Two minutes and he's placing his chin into the palm of his hand, elbow resting against the armrest. He gives up trying to look, certain that the person he's searching for isn't here in broad daylight.
And then he stands once those two minutes are up. ] Yeah, let's go find that shop of yours.
no subject
Would you like to eat something after?
[ She's a little surprised to see him stand so quickly, but she can understand excitement about something. Or maybe...just getting through something as quickly as possible. Juvia frowns, deciding that she's going to try her best to not jump to any conclusions before really thinking about it. ]
There's plenty of food vendors, so you'll have a wide selection.
[ She motions for him to follow her through the crowd. ]
no subject
If that's your way of saying that you're hungry then you're free to whatever. I'll pay. [ Being considerate, maybe it'll distract her from the fact that he never eats. ]
1/2
NO. SHE'S NOT HUNGRY ASSHOLE
Luckily, it does distract her-- she momentarily gets caught off guard at the fact he so easily turned this into something about her (suspicious Crowley). ] Juvia isn't hungry. But I'll keep that in mind when I am. [ And a soft 'thank you' follows under her breath. ]
no subject
There it is! That's the one!
[ Look Crowley!!!! Look!!!! ]
no subject
...
[ He pauses, looking at the collection of umbrellas displayed once they reached the store and honestly impressed of each individual design. Impressed in a way that he thought that they were all ridiculous... ly ugly. ]
Wow. Huh. [ He takes one, opening it and revealing the design is a bunch of cat heads with clouds in the background. ] I don't know what to say about this.
no subject
Juvia likes umbrellas.
[ Although she can't place it where the love came from-- she thinks it's partially because she doesn't like the rain all too much despite her obvious love of water. ] Purple ones, especially. Would you like to help me pick one?
no subject
[ He closes the umbrella in his hand, putting it back in place with lips pressed together into a fine line. He doesn't seem impressed, nor interested, but by the tone of his voice it says the very opposite. ]
Purple? Okay... [ He looks around, focused on finding any that are purple and after a minute he notices that there's a number here that are. ] I can just buy all the purple ones for you.
[ Just to make it easier. ]
no subject
Yes, purple.
[ She also likes pink hearts, but she doesn't mention it out of fear it might be too much of a request for a simple booth like this one... She's all smile, ready to continue looking herself, until he blurts (says, Juvia, until he says) that he could just buy all of them. ]
C-Crowley doesn't have to do that for Juvia!! [ SHE'S SWEATING ] Just one is enough!
no subject
It doesn't matter how expensive it is.
no subject
Her eyes settle on a pink one, instead. Mostly because she just looked down and it was right there but also because she figures it can't hurt, being adventurous for once. She grabs it and shows it to him, pointing at it with her other hand. ]
Juvia wants this one.
no subject
[ But he's not going to argue. She made this decision on her own and all he cares for right now is if she uses it properly. ]
Alright. [ He presents his palm to her, fingers curling in gesture for Juvia to hand it over. Once it's in his hands he promptly walks over to pay for it before returning and giving it back to her. ]
Use it often, but be careful not to break it.
no subject
Thank you, Crowley.
[ She gingerly gives him the umbrella, almost embarrassed about the possibility of physical contact before he walks away as fast as they came into the store. Luckily for her, it's straight to the register.
She holds the umbrella tightly once he gives it to her, with a certain kind of possessiveness to it. ]
Juvia will repay you when her paycheck is deposited.
no subject
[ He doesn't want your dirty money. Besides poor people need to eat, too??
Also the answer: it's a fucking gift, mate. ]
no subject
It's a gift.
But Juvia will return the favor eventually.
[ poor people need to eat but also poor people care abt their friends u dirty classist bitch ]
no subject
It's really not necessary, I'm fine not having anything.
Besides this is a getaway. Doing this for someone while you're on one of these is normal.
[ And before she counters back he's already walking out of the store, expecting her to follow. ] Ah, now aren't you hungry? Pick something out to eat.
