[ There we go. He leans back in his chair a little, as if he's pleased - which he is, but not enough to smile. ]

Very well. [ Inspecting the menu now... ] I think I will have some spaghetti.

[ It's tomato, filling and not very expensive so he wouldn't have to feel guilty about burdening her. ]

And what of you?

[Even if he doesn't smile, she can still tell that he's pleased. Prompting her to almost pout in response, before taking a look at the menu once he's done.]

I'll just have the chicken wrap. [Something small and not expensive, so she won't feel guilty about burdening him either. And now that they know what they want, Lapis will wave down a server to take their orders, while also ordering more tea too. Also while giving a look to Julius to prompt him to order a drink too.]

[ As is predictable, he orders the same thing as hers. Tea taken without sugar and milk, so he can savour the taste without corruption. When the server moves out of earshot, he speaks again. ]

How have you been?

[ Catching up, the usual routine for them. What he can say is limited by his work, but he does tell something at the least. ]

[Lapis takes another sip of her tea once the server leaves, now finishing the rest of her cup. Humming softly as she leans back, tilting her head thoughtfully at his question.]

Busy, mostly. I've been asked to pull some longer shifts at the bar, but I can't really so no to extra money right now. [Info brokering pays well too, but Lapis is too much of a bleeding-heart to really charge people much.]

How's your work been? [Since she knows that's what he mostly tends to do.]

[ Extra money is always useful. She's hardworking and he appreciates that. ]

Busy. I had three missions in a row, not too difficult. I will be transferring next week, after the cases are properly dealt with.

[ It's a warrant, from the way he says it. But it's also not the first time nor the last that he will be changing divisions. ]

[Lapis is almost as much of a workaholic as Julius is, sometimes. Except she knows when to take a break.]

That does sound busy... Though another transfer?

[Lapis knows he changes divisions often, but she can never really understand why. It certainly sounds like a lot of hassle for him, either way.]

[ Julius doesn't... because he has no life. The only reason he takes breaks is because she nags at him to. ]

Yes. [ He's quiet for a moment, not quite meeting her gaze, his own directed somewhere in the middle distance. ] They were not very pleasant workers, so perhaps it was for the best.

[ A horde of Enforcers who had a ritual of drinking never sat well with him. He was a quiet, introverted person who preferred to read instead of be subjected to rowdiness. ]

My next assignment will be to a smaller unit.

[And Lapis will just continue to nag him. Always.

Though she waits when he goes quiet, only humming softly once he responds in full. She can understand that, considering how introverted Julius tended to be.]

Mmm, hopefully that will go well, since it will be smaller. I can imagine it's kind of a pain to keep transferring.

[She shifts to rest her chin in her hands, glancing over at the server as they bring their tea. Nodding quietly in thanks, before reaching for her cup to take a sip.]

[ It certainly is, but it just comes with the job. ]

Perhaps I have not found a place suitable for me yet. [ He takes his cup as well, looking into it pensively. She should be used to his brief silences by now. ] It could come with time.

[ Could, not would. He's still not confident. ]

[Another quiet hum, before she takes another sip of her tea. Placing her cup back down, before resting her chin in her hands once more - humming softly in agreement.]

I think it will. I mean, we get along pretty well, so I'm sure you'll find a team that meshes with you well too.

[Part of her debates using the 'friend' word, but a sudden swell of shyness stops her from doing so. Though the only real sign of that shyness is how she glances away for a moment and quickly takes another sip of her tea.]

[ It's a sign noted but not commented upon. Julius is somewhat shy himself, so he wouldn't comment on it. ]

Eventually.

[ He just has to drift until he finds a place to rest. ]

What do you do to relax, when you are tired?

[The lack of commenting is appreciated. Maybe one day she won't be horribly shy about that kind of thing.

Though that question gets a curious blink, and she leans back in her chair once more - mulling over that for a moment.]

Sometimes I sit in the bath for a little while, or I grab a book and some tea, and curl up in bed to read. I like listening to music too.

[Lapis goes quiet for a moment, giving a curious tilt of her head.] Are you looking for relaxation methods?

[ HE'S BUSTED. ]

I... would like your opinion on the matter.

[ So it's sort of a yes. A bath sounds nice, though... maybe he could read in it too. He pays attention to rid his hair of the grime in it after every mission, but it's always been something done out of rote than relaxation. ]

[SHE KNEW IT.

But considering how much he works, it's good that he's thinking about something like this. It's why she takes this seriously, humming in thought as she thinks over the best methods.]

Well, I would always recommend a bath at the end of the day, especially if you can get some salts or oil for it. Those really help a lot. Or a bubble bath works just as well.

[Clearly she's done a lot of investigating into this already...]

You can also get trays for the bath too, so you can put things like books or drinks onto it without them getting wet. I've got one, so sometimes I relax in the bath with some tea.

[ She's a girl, so it's natural that she'd take care of her appearance. It feels a little strange for him to be considering the possibility, but if it's worth trying, he would do it. ]

I'll look into these. Do you have any brand recommendations?

[ For the salts and oils, he means. ]

[Lapis is particularly vain, it's true. She has no shame about this either, so she nods as she thinks over the best brands.]

Let's see, there's - [Cue her listing off a few of whatever kinds of bath brands there are in the OJ universe, luckily she doesn't list off too many and their food soon arrives too.

Now she shifts to nibble on her wrap for a moment, eyes focusing on Julius once more.]

Music helps a lot too. I prefer classic or instrumental stuff when I'm trying to relax.

That sounds nice. [ Pun not intended, but. ] Thank you.

[ He'll have to do research... and he should start on his food soon, it'll get cold. At least he doesn't need reminding to eat.

For now, he keeps the silence unless she talks to him first. She should be used to this too. ]

[Lapis tries not to giggle at the unintended pun, but her lips do still quirk up in a smile. Nodding in response, before she goes back to nibbling on her food and sipping on her tea.

The silence is something she's used to, and something she doesn't mind - it's nice to spend time with him like this too. So she's content to eat in silence, though she soon starts chatting once it's time to pay and head to their next destination.

Luckily her trip to the bookstore involves mostly wanting to find books about flowers, so she hopes this shopping venture will be a bit more enjoyable for him as she brings him to look at the books together. In Lapis' opinion, looking at books about flowers together is a great way to spend the rest of the day.]
