Who: Scott & Leo
Where: Old Town, Westerley
When: Week 2, Day 2
Summary: Scott and Leo literally miss the overall tone of this game, and attempt to help the underprivileged.
Restrictions/Warnings: None, this log is so pure it's actually embarrassing.
[ Sure, helping people (hunting things?), that's what Scott's all about. It's something that had been ingrained in him from a young age, watching how selfish and angry his father had been, to the detriment of their family. His mother had remained kind through it all, working as a nurse her entire life, and Scott followed in her footsteps as naturally as breathing. Life in Westerley sucked, but they had to make their peace with their circumstances whether they liked it or not, so Scott generally did his best to be a nice guy, if not a good person. Which is why he and Leo are stationed outside of the clinic now, offering something much more basic to the people impoverished by the rains than medical care.
They're handing out food. What a pair of goody two shoes.
Except, even while doing charity work they're meant to be vigilant, making sure that no one person takes too much of their meagre hand outs, and to keep an eye for anyone that might return too often. It's a good deed, but they're not here to spoil anyone with things like, reasonable amounts of food or anything.
And Scott is sleepy. Even with his genetic enhancements and all that fancy stuff, he's tired and he kind of just wants to go home and nap. It's actually pretty nice being in his apartment now that Leo's there, acting as background noise and a frankly amazingly unobtrusive guest. ]
Tell me if people are coming back too often because everyone basically looks the same to me now.
[ He's not complaining, he's politely requesting assistance. ]

So, what are we going to do once this is over? I have about three more days before I leave.
[ it'd be nice to help as many people as they can, but he also needs some relaxation time. with his visa just having been renewed, the cafe doesn't want him to go back to work just yet as they need to make sure his papers are 100% legitimate... even though he's been working there for "years" now. ]

He peers thoughtfully at Leo. ]
Do you wanna watch a movie?
no subject
he almost laughs at the suggestion of a movie as he gives one of the food bags to a stranger. the line's getting shorter and shorter, and the food they're giving out is slowly being depleted. looks like they really will have to stop, soon. ]
If it's something I've already seen, then I'll pass.

He hands out the last package that he's got, frowning apologetically at the next person. It doesn't do much to soften the blow, or assuage their disappoint, and he directs them toward Leo. They've done what they can, and they might try to rally supplies for another distribution, but this kind of thing isn't common in Old Town, and for good reason. None of them have enough to be in a position to give.
For now, Scott doesn't think about people going hungry, and instead blinks, a little sleepily. ]
You need to fill me in about Leith, too.
[ He hasn't forgotten about the babies. ]

he tells the others that they're done for the day and hope that they can all meet again in the future. given scott's bleeding heart, that's very likely. given how leo can't forget, that's also very likely. if they all ever meet again, leo wouldn't forget.
as people being to disperse, some of them cursing that they didn't get anything, while some excited for the next time the two will do something so charitable, leo puts a hand on the left side of his body. his energy levels are at exactly 21% now, which means he really needs to charge. it's important because nobody knows how to switch him on once he's shut down.
and also he'd be making a noise and face similar to how people do when they orgasm when he's switched on. HE ISN'T EVEN A CHOBIT, AND YET-- ]
What's there to know? The people there are always the same. They try to look good, but they're rotten inside.

Scott maintains his smile, it's small, and a little amused but no less genuine than it ever is. He doesn't know if Leo is just being dramatic, or if Leith really is so corrupt. There isn't a lot of goodness to be found on Westerley--though not by choice, so Scott doesn't fault anyone for it. Life is tough here, and people do what they need to survive. It'd be nice if they could all cooperate; realize that unity is more effective than selfishness, but that's not the world they live in.
He assumes that Leith would be better, that the people would be more content, and better settled, but he'll have to take Leo's word for it. ]
You make it sound so terrible, don't you want me to visit you sometime?
[ Probably not, and Scott's most joking as he picks up the now empty box behind him and sets about flattening it. ]
no subject
You want to? [ the people of leith don't really treat him well... it'd be embarrassing if scott saw that. ]
no subject
[ He looks over, taking Leo's box as well and folding the two of them together with a little bit of that genetically modified strength. They can go in the back of the clinic--boxes will come in handy later. ]
You can't show me around or something?
no subject
I could, but you could get punched in the face.
[ he says it with such a straight face too. one, two, three... ten, and then he laughs. it's not bursting laughter, more like a continuous puff of happy air. ]
Might be better if somebody else was your tour guide. [ it's not a declination, at least. he'd be "happy" (what is happiness, though?) to have somebody who doesn't hate him so much around. and in leith, no less. ]
no subject
Rough going in Leith, huh? [ Well, maybe Leo is surrounded by snobs. He can't believe that people would outright hate him though.
He drops a hand on Leo's shoulder. ]
I'd be more comfortable with you. I want to see what it's really like up there, not what everyone pretends it's like.
what is this
I'm not stopping you. [ though, his gaze does fall on the hand on his shoulder, and he tries so hard not to look outwardly uncomfortable with it. physical contact is just very strange, in general. ] Just tell me when.
