i hate you so god damn much

[ This wasn't what Will expected.

Truthfully, when he first spotted Dr. Auguste at the party, there was a soft moment of oh when he met Hannibal's eyes again and he knew -- the man was a target. Not extremely so, as Hannibal was patient and careful but it was the first time since Will's realization that he saw it in person, saw when Hannibal was less man and more beast, if only for a second. A certain curtain falling away from his eyes and just like that, Will saw what he did. He'd been slightly rattled after that, which is probably why it was so easy for Hannibal to slip away and it left Will with a dilemma. Should he worry about Auguste or should he just... let whatever happens, happen?

In the end, he followed after Hannibal and he couldn't say for sure what prompted him to, even when he had a feeling what was at the end of that rainbow. Did he want to save him? Will couldn't tell either way. Did he... want to hurt him? Will, thankfully, couldn't tell that either. He just had the urge to know, to see what was happening now for the first time on his own and that's what pushed him to open the door, to step inside the room.

He looks between the two men and he can't help the vague disappointment that comes at Augste still breathing. A slight frown on his face and unthinkingly, Will closes the door behind him before taking a few more steps inside -- right into the lion's den. Will doesn't need his empathy to tell him something dangerous is about to happen here and he's been dragged in to either stop it or be part of it. His eyes stay warily on Auguste as he steps inside, moving over towards a spot near a chair -- between Auguste and Hannibal, not exactly picking a side entirely and instead just... watching. ]

Cocktails, of all topics? There's plenty of serviceable Hokk down at the party, no need to stumble into excess.

[ A lift of his shoulder here and his eyes are drawn to the blood red of the drink, feeling unsettled a moment later. No, there's a double meaning there that he's not privy to yet but if he plays along enough, Hannibal will make it clearer. For now, he leans against an armchair, arms folding over his chest as he watches them both with what may look like passing disinterest but for Will is a much more careful observation. ]
