[ closed ] gather round my friends, let's try not to pretend
Who: Peter Burke & various miscreants (plus Steph, who is perfect)
Where: Leith, RAC headquarters, aboard the USS we'll name it something eventually
When: w5d4, w6 various ...times. also misc, and "other."
Summary: Dadding! Escort Mission Warranting! Not letting Hawke throw her evaluation!
Restrictions/Warnings: U H M Weaponized charm, riot-typical violence presumably, whatever shenanigans occur when shenanigan-magnet Hawke exists a place.
jk, starters are in comments.

NEAL :: W5D4
That's officially what they're doing. Unofficially it's turned out exactly like one would expect of one person who has more heart than common sense, and one who has exactly the common sense to know the big damn heart thing is going to get them into trouble, yet...you know, going there anyway. Combine that with the fact that Old Town doesn't per se make for easy traveling right now, and they get to the Eastern Distract later than Peter would like. Which is to say what anyone else would consider "on time."
He stops Neal once the mining facility is in sight, one hand curling around his (...Neal's, curse you pronouns) forearm. "You know who we're looking for?"
This isn't a trick question; with Neal's Level 4 Evaluation looming, Peter's been trying to let him take the lead on things. It sorely tests his nigh-pathological need to control everything the light touches, but so far their weird balance has worked for them.

And then he grins. Did he get that right, Peter? He knows he did, since he could, at this point, draw her face from memory, although that might not say much considering he could do that for most people.
And then he grabs Peter's arm, pulling him in another direction, knowing how much Peter is itching to take charge here. "Let's try this way. I know a shortcut," he says. Which is more to say that he hopes he knows a shortcut, because he's getting tired of dodging danger. And the second part of what they're looking for is a safe route out of the hot zone again, since it wouldn't do to have Calysta De Fraes struck by a stray bullet after they've finally found her. And so far that's a real risk everywhere.
STEPH :: W6D3...ish
It's a little funny, which is nice in the midst of everything that distinctly isn't.
Peter bribes her with Neal's cooking to maybe get out of the path of all those rolling boulders, just for a couple days; this turns out to be unnecessary since for once they both want basically the same thing. He doesn't rescind the offer, since Neal will probably turn cartwheels to cook for someone other than Peter; apparently his palate is made of cardboard.
When Steph gets there the ship, who seriously is like 90% definitely named Mozzie, lowers the walkway into the cargo bay for her; Peter is under the hood of their ATV, which is constantly breaking in some way because it's older than some species of plant life around here. They could get a new one, but as long as Peter can keep fixing it he considers that unnecessary.
Naturally, he is attacked by something electrical the second Steph shows up; he swears mildly under his breath and shakes his hand out, not startling when he sees her because if that kind of thing caught him off guard, uh, by this point in #RAClife he would definitely be dead. The fact that she has more bags than he was expecting apparently is surprising, however; he emerges from under the hood and arches an eyebrow at her.
"If you're moving in you gotta talk to Mozzie first. He gets cranky if you compromise his routines."
'Compromise his routines' is uttered in such tones as to indicate that this is a] quoting and b] not something Peter engages particularly well with.

And then he rudely calls her out on the ridiculous amount of bags that she has, which redirects the frown towards said bags.
"I thought you might not have been able to stock up for a little while, with everything going on. It's mostly food," If she's going to be eating heir food it only seems fair to help them restock.
