[ The scuffle had gotten so terrible that Alice was forced to protect herself and Gwen, who had screamed the whole time as this man tried to violently attack both of them. She couldn't spare the little girl from all of that violence. What mattered as she and Gwen were safe and Alice ensured she took the brunt of it. It's hard to see at first Alice endured this man's attack, how he attempted to strangle her beneath the blood at first.

Sion's gaze is enough for Alice to avert her own, waving a hand at him as she turned away, walking calmly past the mess. Now she was her own person and someone of action, not the mercy of someone attempting to send her back to the asylum or strip her of all she had left.

She ignores him, so unlike how she once was where she hardly protested much of anything. Maybe she was blooming in the wrong way. ]
