[ the "everybody hates me" part is legit, but Vaughn's always thought Rhys was a bit overdramatic about Westerley. yeah, it's dirty and dangerous. big deal. he grew up in the same (gigantic) house as Rhys, and even though he didn't enjoy all the perks of status, he was still used to a certain degree of luxury—but change kept things interesting for him.

this is the perfect time and place for Rhys to promote his ideas, though; they both know that. plus, peace is always good, right? things have been ugly. even if Rhys's proposals go nowhere, it'd still be a worthwhile trip for him. he was never really allowed to accompany Rhys to parties and events growing up, but now that they're both old enough to do whatever they want, he's pretty much always around to act as a yes man, or a wingman, or whatever kind of man he needs to be.
