[Maybe it was a silly question to ask a RAC agent. Their concerns never seemed to extend beyond their warrants, so he should have known he would get that type of answer. Still, he imagines that it would have to get lonely, or boring, or both, to be treated as part of the background for as long as everyone is here. As much as he might have been expecting a non-committal reply, the comment about the stale chips catches him off guard. This could be one of the most important political gathering in recent history, and... the chips are stale.
